Bike Park & Scenic Chairlift Rides
Saturday, July 4 from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. the bike park is open and chairlift rides aboard the Summit Express shuttles bikers and foot-passengers to the mountain’s peak. July 4th Fireworks
Where to watch the fireworks? The most unique and up-close vista is from Sugar’s 5,300’ peak via the Summit Express chairlift (fee) running 7-10 PM. Or watch from the lodge (free admission & parking) and enjoy live music on the deck 6-9 PM. They begin just after 9 PM. Also watch from the parking areas at the resort. July 4: Summit Crawl
Take on the challenge of Sugar Mountain Resort’s 10th annual Summit Crawl, a competitive uphill race to the mountain’s 5,300-foot peak. The course covers approximately 1.2 miles with a 1,200-foot vertical climb, following Easy Street, Gunther’s Way, and Northridge slopes to the summit. Registration includes an event T-shirt and a one-way ride down the mountain on the Summit Express chairlift following the race, with the registration deadline set for Tuesday, June 30 at 4PM. Competitors can pick up packets at the Base Lodge on July 3 or the morning of July 4 before the 9:00 AM start time. Get info and register online at www.skisugar.com/crawl.
July 4 & 5: Art on the Greene
Held on the grounds of the Historic Banner Elk School with hand-made arts and crafts from select regional and national artisans. Free admission. 10 AM-5 PM. Address: 185 Azalea Cir SE, Banner Elk. Read more.
July 4th: Banner Elk Parade
11 AM until Noon, down Main Street. Followed by a Duck Race & Party Noon until 3 PM in Tate-Evans Town Park with old fashioned games and food vendors.
